Course Description
This course is designed to give students the knowledge and skills needed to conduct transcriptions of physician-dictated reports organized by anatomy or medical specialties. The training focuses on the development of accuracy, speed and medical knowledge for transcription of letters, chart notes, history, physicals, consultations, emergency room reports, operative reports, discharge summaries and lab reports. The training continues with instruction in the transcription of medical correspondence and specialized documents with emphasis on medical transcription from audio. Students will develop skills in the use of a transcriber and its use in the medical office through the typing of such reports as history, physicals, discharge summaries and autopsies.
Prerequisites
Medical Terminology, and
Keyboarding Speed of at Least 40 WPM
